Our medical, surgical and radiation oncologists collaborate with additional support staff such as registered dietitians, pharmacists, physical therapists, and other clinicians to cover all aspects of your cancer journey. No matter what type of cancer you’re fighting, we have you covered.

Advanced Diagnostic Tools and Treatments

Cancer treatment rapidly evolves with new technologies and scientific advances. That’s why we stay up-to-date on current research and bring in the latest technologies that combat cancer, such as Halcyon™ and ZAP-X®. In 2019, MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center became one of only two hospitals in Maryland to use the new, revolutionary Halcyon™ machine to treat patients. This machine allows you to receive treatment quickly, from the best radiation equipment available. In 2020, we became one of only three hospitals in the world, and the first hospital on the East Coast, to house the renowned ZAP-X Gyroscopic Radiosurgery™ machine. This machine offers non-invasive treatment for some of the most complex types of brain tumors. In addition to these innovative machines, MedStar Southern Maryland is also home to a state-of-the-art infusion center and a new women's imaging suite with on-site DEXA scanning, ultrasound and 3D mammography services.
