Yvette C. Johnson-Threat, MD

Yvette C. Johnson-Threat, MD, is vice president of Medical Affairs at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center. She is responsible for the management of Medical Affairs, including physician recruitment and retention. She also works to expand and improve the delivery of healthcare services to the community.

During her more than 20 year medical career, Dr. Johnson-Threat has held a number of leadership roles, including chief medical officer, chief of staff, chairman, and medical director. Most recently, Dr. Johnson-Threat served as chief medical officer for both Richmond Community Hospital in Richmond, Va., and Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, Va.

Dr. Johnson-Threat received her undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and her Master of Public Health from the University of Alabama. She received her medical degree in internal medicine from the University of Illinois and completed her residency at Wayne State University. She is board certified in internal medicine.

Dr. Johnson-Threat is a past member of the Richmond Academy of Medicine and American College of Physician Executives. She is also a board member of the Daily Planet Community Health Center and has served as an associate clinic professor at Virginia Commonwealth University since 2001.
