Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer

As Chief Nursing Officer for MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Ms. Scalfari directs administrative, clinical, educational, operational and financial activities for MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center's Division of Nursing. She also leads nursing programs including those related to delivery model implementation, strategic planning, and outcomes measures related to quality, safety, core measures and patient satisfaction.

Prior to joining SMH, Ms. Scalfari worked in various capacities at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., most recently serving as Senior Director of Nursing, Emergency Services/Capacity Management/Off-shift Operations. Ms. Scalfari is a registered nurse in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. She received a Master of Science in nursing and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from The Catholic University of America. Ms. Scalfari is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She is board certified as both a Nurse Executive, Advanced (NEA-BC), and a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health (ACNS-BC).
