We’re seeking volunteers for our new Patient and Family Advisory Council for Quality and Safety
MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center is looking for former patients, family members, and hospital associates for our new Patient and Family Advisory Council for Quality and Safety (PFACQS). The goal of the PFACQS is to improve the quality and safety of patient care by asking community members to help guide our hospital’s quality improvement initiatives.
“Our aim is to involve patients, families, and hospital associates in a collaborative committee that looks at quality and safety from the patient and associate perspective,” said hospital vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer Patricia Scalfari, MSN, RN, ACNS-BC, NEA-BC.
PFACQS members will provide feedback on a wide range of issues, help the hospital establish quality improvement priorities, and promote communication and collaboration among patients, families, and hospital staff.
“This is a way for patients to be empowered, to voice their opinions in a way that has a direct impact on the organization’s policies and initiatives,” said Yvette Johnson-Threat, MD, the hospital’s vice president for medical affairs. “It’s an opportunity to be engaged in the future of this hospital.”
